માલદીવના જનજીવનમાં આજકાલ નવી આશાઓનો સંચાર થયો છે. હિન્દ મહાસાગરમાં નાના-નાના ટાપુઓથી રચાયેલો દેશ માલદીવ દુનિયાના ટોચના પૃથક-વેરવિખેર દેશોમાં આવે છે. ત્યાં યોજાયેલી રાષ્ટ્રપ્રમુખની ચૂંટણીમાં મોહમ્મદ સોલિહ વિજયી નીવડયા છે અને જેનાથી પ્રજા તંગ થઈ ગઈ હતી એ ચીની કઠપૂતળી સરીખા અબ્દુલ્લા યામીન પરાજિત થયા છે. એક દુષ્ટ શાસકના સકંજામાંથી મુક્તિ મળ્યાનો અહીંની પ્રજા નિત્ય ઉત્સવ ઉજવી રહી છે. મોહમ્મદ સોલિહ વિપક્ષીદળોના ગઠબંધનના નેતા છે અને એમની રાજકીય વિચારધારાઓ ભારત તરફી છે. સમગ્ર એશિયામાં આ ઘટનાને ભારતની વ્યૂહાત્મક સફળતા તરીકે માનવામાં આવે છે. અબ્દુલ્લા યામીને ભારત વિરુદ્ધ બકવાસ કરવાનો એક પણ મોકો જવા દીધો ન હતો. તેઓ માલદીવમાં પોતે જીવે ત્યાં સુધી સત્તામાં રહેવા માટે બંધારણમાં ફેરફાર કરવા ચાહતા હતા. અબ્દુલ્લા યામીન એવા પણ વ્યાખ્યાનો કરી ચૂક્યા છે જેનો અર્થ કાશ્મીરના આતંકવાદીઓને સમર્થન આપવા જેવો થાય. માલદીવના અનેક નેતાઓને તેમણે જેલમાં પૂર્યા હતા. છેલ્લા એક વરસથી તો ગૃહયુદ્ધ જેવી સ્થિતિમાં પ્રજા ફસાયેલી હતી. નવોદિત રાષ્ટ્રપ્રમુખ સોલિહ આજથી શરૂ થતાં નવેમ્બરમાં સત્તાના સૂત્રો સંભાળી લેશે. અબ્

૫૬'ની છાતી ક્યારે કહેવાય કે જ્યારે કેરળના સબરીમાલા મંદિરની આ વર્ષની તગડી આવક રૂ. ૨૫૫ કરોડને જપ્ત કરીને તેનો કન્યા કેળવણીમાં ઉપયોગ કરવા આદેશ આપવો જોઇએ. સબરીમાલા મંદિરના વહિવટકારો કોઇનેય ગાંઠતાં નહોતા; જો કોઈ પ્રતિકાર કે દલીલ કરે તો મંદિરના સેવક જેવા લાગતા બોડીગાર્ડો ઝાપટ-ઝૂપટ કરતાં પણ અચકાતા નહોતા. જે નિર્ણયો સરકારે લેવાના હતા તે સુપ્રીમ કોર્ટ લઇ રહી છે. સબરીમાલા મંદિર અંગેના સુપ્રીમના ચુકાદાથી સૌ ખુશ છે, સ્ત્રી-સમાજને પણ ગૌરવ છે. આ કામ સરકારે કર્યું હતું તો લોકોને 'ફીલગુડ' જેવો અનુભવ થાત. સુપ્રીમ કોર્ટે સબરીમાલા મંદિર પાસે તગડો દંડ વસૂલ કરવો જોઇતો હતો. અત્યાર સુધી મહિલાઓને થયેલા દેખીતા અન્યાયનું શું ? સબરીમાલા પાસે દંડ લેવો કે નહીં તે મુદ્દો સરકાર પર છોડીને સુપ્રીમે રાજકારણીઓને નિર્ણય નહીં લેવાની શક્તિને ખુલ્લી પાડવા જેવી હતી. મહિલાઓ જે સંતોને પગે લાગીને આશિર્વાદ મેળવે છે તેમનો કલર ક્યારે બદલાશે તે સમજી શકાય એમ નથી. મંદિરમાં મહિલાઓના પ્રવેશ પર પ્રતિબંધ ફરમાવનારાઓએ મહિલાના હાથે બનાવેલું જમવાનું પણ ના ખાવું જોઇએ. દલીલ એવી કરાતી હતી કે રજસ્વલા મહિલાઓએ મંદિરમાં પ્રવેશવું

ગંભીર ગુનાઓ હેઠળ જેલમાં પુરાયેલા પૈકી ૮૦ ટકા ગુનેગારોએ તેમનો પ્રથમ ક્રાઇમ પ્રાણીઓ પર કર્યો હતો કમનસીબીએ છે કે ભારતમાં પ્રાણીઓ પર યાતના ગુજારનારને ૧૯૬૦માં બનાવેલા કાયદા હેઠળ ૫૦ રૂપિયા દંડ લઇને છોડી દેવામાં આવે છે પ્રાણીઓ પર થતા અત્યાચારોને પોલીસે ગંભીર ગણવા જોઈએ. પ્રાણીઓ પરના અત્યાચારને ઘરેલુ અત્યાચાર સાથે જોડાયો છે, તેને હિંસાભર્યો ગુનો નથી ગણાતો એમ ક્રાઇમ સ્કવોડે વિશ્વભરમાં કરેલા સર્વે પરથી જણાયું છે. આ વર્ષના જાન્યુઆરીમાં અમેરિકાની ફેડરલ બ્યુરો ઓફ ઇન્વેસ્ટીગેશને (FBI) જાહેર કર્યું છે કે તે પ્રાણીઓ પરના અત્યાચારના ગુનાનો વર્ગ બદલીને તેને 'ગુ્રપ-એ'માં મુકશે. આ ગૃપ નેશનલ ઇન્સીડન્ટ બેઝડ રીપોર્ટીંગ સિસ્ટમ (NIBRS) સાથે જોડાયેલું છે. આનો અર્થ એ થયો કે અમેરિકામાં પ્રાણીઓ પરની યાતનાને ટોપ સ્તરનો ગુનો ગણાશે. ભૂતકાળમાં પ્રાણીઓ પરની યાતનાને ગૃપ-બીમાં સમાવાતી હતી જે માઇનોર ક્રાઈમમાં ગણાતું હતું. જેમાં યાતના કેટલી સકત હતી તે જાણી શકાતું નહોતું. નવી માર્ગદર્શિકા હેઠળ પ્રાણીઓ પર ગુજારાતી યાતનાને આગ ચાંપવી, અપહરણ કે હિંસાચારની જેમ સીરીયસ ક્રાઇમ ગણવામાં આવશે. આ ફેરફારના કારણે પ્રાણીઓ પર

રાજકોટ,તા.30 સપ્ટેમ્બર 2018, રવિવાર રાજકોટમા મહાત્મા ગાંધી મ્યુઝિયમના લોકાર્પણ માટે સવા વર્ષમાં બીજી વાર આવેલા પ્રધાનમંત્રી નરેન્દ્ર મોદીએ અહીં ચૌધરી હાઈસ્કૂલ મેદાનમાં આ પ્રસંગે યોજાયેલી જાહેરસભામાં આગવા અંદાજમાં કહ્યું કે તા.૨ ઓક્ટોબરના દિવસે એક વ્યક્તિનો નહીં પણ એક યુગનો જન્મ થયો હતો. સમગ્ર વિશ્વમાં જો કોઈ એકવ્યક્તિ પાસે તમામ સમસ્યાનું સમાધાન હોય તો તે વ્યક્તિ પૂ.બાપુ મહાત્મા ગાંધી છે.એ ગૌરવની વાત છે કે કાઠીયાવાડની આ ધરતી પર એક સુદર્શનચક્રધારી મોહન (ભગવાન શ્રીકૃષ્ણ)ની છે અને અહીં જ 'ચરખાધારી મોહન' (ગાંધીજી) જન્મ્યા. મોદી મોદીના નારા વચ્ચે ઉપસ્થિત મેદનીને સંબોધતા કહ્યું આજનો પ્રસંગ રાજકોટ માટે નહીં, સમગ્ર વિશ્વ માટે મહત્વનો છે. ગાંધીજીએ અહીંની માટી ખુંદતા, અહીંનું પાાણી પીને જીવનની શરુઆત કરી. કોઈ પણ મહાપુરુષને જાણવા હોય તો તેમનું બચપણ જાણવું પડે અને એ માટે રાજકોટ આવવું પડશે એ સ્થિતિ અમે પેદા કરી છે કહી રાજકોટ,રાજ્ય અને કેન્દ્રમાં ભાજપ સરકારની પ્રશસ્તિ કરી હતી. આ સાથે તેમણે એ તત્વોએ ગાંધી અને રાજકોટને આટલા વર્ષો જુદા કરી નાંખ્યા હતા તેમ કહીને તથા ગાંધીજીને 'એ લોકો'એ
